Nowadays there is a very thin line between comfort and style. It’s strange we don’t wear our nightgowns in the streets yet. Anyway, we are going to talk about sweatpants this time. In this post I gathered my favorite street style looks where models, fashionistas and editors appear in sweatpants styled with everyday essentials. This lounge and gym garment has an athletic inspired look that us not always flattering. I decided to create this compilation of street images and show you voguish ways how to wear these bottoms in real life.
We see grey sweatpants styled with cropped white top and black fur jacket. The look is completed thanks to striped black and white pumps and cool aviator sunglasses.
The best way how to make sweatpants look sporty and chic is to pair them with cool T-shirt and finish the look by adding stylish sneakers: Chuck Taylors, slip-ons, wedge sneaks or trainers. You can keep footwear neutral either neon colored. I highly recommend to avoid wearing UGGs and flip-flops. Other shoes work great with these athletic inspired bottoms. Personally, I like to tuck my sweatpants inside the boots. Keep in mind, the cuff of your sweatpants should hit somewhere between mid-calf and just above the ankle. You can make them look dressy and stand out by teaming with formal garments. I do love to see ladies on the streets wearing sweatpants styled with high-heel sandals and pumps. By the way, you can try these bottoms with stilettos and high heels for a girl’s night out party. All you need is to add dressy top: lace top, crop top or sexy blouse. If you want to create an edgy statement look, then why don’t you add chic accessories, like beautiful necklace, sunglasses, earrings, handbags, watches, etc. I love to see ladies wearing leather-like sweatpants and cool stiletto heels, they do look powerful and confident. Use tops that can give your outfit a structure. Avoid sweatpants in heavy fabrics, as they can make you look bulky. Better buy fitted one that will still look slouchy, but more polished and clean. If you want to create a smart-casual look, then you should wear them with a classic button-down or casual chambray shirt. Those of you who want to make a fashion statement, then I recommend to add blazer, tailored coat, or cool cardigan. These toppers will balance your look by adding polish touch to slouchy sweatpants.
